Dwayne Johnson Is Going Back to His Roots for His Next Film and Reteaming With ‘Smashing Machine’ Director

Dwayne Johnson is getting the best reviews of his career with his new biopic, The Smashing Machine, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this week. Next up, he's getting out of the ring and the cage for something completely different. Collider's Tania Hussain attended Johnson's panel at TIFF, and reports that Johnson is going to team up with Smashing Machine director Benny Safdie for his next film: an adaptation of a cult classic YA novel in which he'll play an elderly chicken enthusiast. Much of Johnson's early film career was populated by family movies such as The Game Plan and The Race to Witch Mountain.
