Simon Le Bon and co. will be joined on the day by special guests Scissor Sisters. The full supporting line-up is set to be revealed at a later date.
Duran Duran previously topped the bill at BST Hyde Park in 2022. They had initially been announced for the 2020 edition, which was ultimately cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jim King, CEO of AEG Presents UK, said: “Duran Duran have long defined the very best of British music, conquering charts around the world.
“Their return to BST Hyde Park, joined by the incredible Scissor Sisters, promises a night of iconic, era‑defining hits and one of the standout moments for fans this summer.”
Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST next Wednesday (April 3) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. An Amex pre-sale goes live at the same time today (Friday March 27). Alternatively, Duran Duran members can access a pre-sale at 10am BST on Monday (March 30).
This year’s previously announced headliners for BST Hyde Park are Garth Brooks (June 27), Maroon 5 (July 3), Mumford & Sons (July 4), Pitbull (July 10) and Lewis Capaldi (July 11/12).
A new BST sister event, Roundhay Festival, is set to launch in Leeds this summer. The only bill-toppers confirmed for this so far are Lewis Capaldi and Pitbull.
Duran Duran’s latest studio album, ‘Danse Macabre’, was released in 2023. Last autumn, the group brought out Måneskin’s Victoria De Angelis for a rendition of ‘Psycho Killer’ at their Halloween show in Manchester.
In 2023, the band spoke to NME about their desire to perform at Glastonbury – something they have surprisingly not yet done. “I’d love to [do it] – we just need to get the right slot, that’s all,” Le Bon said.
“We have had the chance to do it before, but it wasn’t playing the main stage and I think we’d like to be doing that for sure. I’m sure we’re in negotiations [with Glastonbury], and if not, we will be.”
Meanwhile, Duran Duran were recently among the musicians to have hit out at President Donald Trump’s administration following ICE’s fatal shooting of a woman in Minneapolis.
“We believe that people in this world have a right to live their lives in peace and lives of freedom and happiness in their own country,” Le Bon told the crowd at a gig in California. “For all the ordinary people in this world, we wish upon you an ordinary world.”
