Did Capcom Confirm the First Triple-Gen PS6, PS5, PS4 Game?

Following last week’s The Game Awards 2025, PlayStation fans are wondering if Capcom just announced the first “triple-gen” game for the PS6, PS5, and PS4. Mega Man: Dual Override will release sometime in 2027, and the PS6 is expected to launch at the end of that year, at the earliest.

Mega Man: Dual Override only confirmed for PS5 and PS4 so far, but PS6 version is very likely

Capcom has confirmed that Mega Man: Dual Override will launch on both PS5 and PS4, which came as a bit of a surprise. Sure, it’s not a very demanding game, but 2027 will mark the PS4’s 14th year in the market, so this is quite the commitment from Capcom.

For context, the last PS2 game that released in the West was 2014’s Pro Evolution Soccer. The console itself released in 2000.

But things have changed since then. Video game development budgets have ballooned in size, and developers are becoming increasingly picky when it comes to investing money and resources. And for Capcom to pledge a PS4 version in 2027, with PS6 around the corner, is — again — quite the commitment.

It’s no surprise, then, that Mega Man’s PS4 announcement has generated quite a bit of chatter on various gaming forums and social media.

Is Mega Man: Dual Override our first triple-gen game? Time will tell! But what do our readers think?
