Marvel takes Deadpoolback to his origins as a trigger-happy anti-hero, undoing most of the character arc he has developed across thirty-five years. For a few years in the 1990s, Wade Wilson was an edgy, mostly serious assassin without fourth-wall-breaking powers or self-aware comedy. It took some time for Deadpool to become the foul-mouthed, wisecracking hero who has starred in three of the biggest cinematic superhero hits to date.
