The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Coronation Street dated October 27. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
Just days away from Halloween, things got a bit too frightening for Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) in Coronation Street today, leading to her attacking someone with a vase.
Sally and Tim Metcalfe’s (Joe Duttine) lives changed earlier this year when Tim discovered that his cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) had killed his partner, Rachel.
Richie and Rachel’s teenage daughter Lucy (Anya Dewin) then moved in with Tim, Sal and the Michaelis siblings.
Tim and Sally have seriously had their work cut out with Lucy. The young woman is deeply traumatised by what happened in her family home, and often reacts with anger when she feels the need to defend herself.
In today’s episode, Sally and Tim received an unexpected shock – and it had nothing to do with early Halloween celebrations.
In the local news was an article about a riot at Mick Michaelis’ prison. With knowledge the dangerous man had escaped before, Tim and Sally were a little on edge, but played it down for the sake of the children under their roof.
As night fell, Lucy headed off to a Halloween party at the pub with Joanie (Savanna Pennington) and Tim, while Sally stayed at home.
Being all alone in the house meant Sally’s paranoia about Mick began to grow. Without Tim to reassure her, Sal’s mind started going into overdrive.
Despite Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) telling Sally that she didn’t need to worry about Mick coming for her, she remained on edge…and a ghost spooking her at the window definitely didn’t help.
Sally tried her best to stay calm, but things got even worse when her phone rang and there wasn’t anyone on the other end of the call.
Moments later, a power cut caused Weatherfield to plunge into darkness. Talk about bad timing. Poor Sal was left fearing for her life and then, when the power returned, a ghostly figure was standing right behind her!
Defending herself, Sally smacked the person over the head with a vase. When Tim arrived back home, he was horrified to find Lucy clutching her head.
In distress, Lucy accused Sally of trying to kill her, and also said that she’s ‘just like her mum’.
Sally was devastated.
Could this development impact whether Lucy continues living with Sally and Tim?
