Coolie OTT Release Date: Prior to its theatrical release, Coolie created a lot of excitement because it was the first time director Lokesh Kanagaraj and superstar Rajinikanth had worked together. Stars like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and Sathyaraj increased the excitement and attention it received. The film received mixed reviews from viewers when it was released on August 14, 2025, together with Hrithik Roshan-Jr. NTR's War 2. Now that the movie has been in theatres for 25 days, it is available on Amazon Prime Video in four South Indian languages-Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

The Hindi version will be available following the 8-week theatrical-to-OTT timeframe. Apart from that, it's unclear how the movie will be received by OTT viewers.
Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Kanna Ravi, Maaran, Pooja Hegde (in the Monica song), Reba Monica John, are among the other actors in the film. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music for this blockbuster, which Sun Pictures backed.
Coolie box office collection
According to reports, the movie made over Rs 336 crore at the Indian box office alone. While it's bringing in about Rs 70 crore in Andhra and Telangana, it's nearly reaching Rs 150 crore in Tamil Nadu. Kerala gave around Rs 25 crore, Karnataka provided Rs 45 crore, and the rest of India contributed an additional Rs 50 crore. Rajini followers are already appreciating the genuine buzz.
How much Amazon paid for Coolie?
It's interesting to note that Rajinikanth's movies have previously been available on Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime generated a staggering Rs 100 crore for his last blockbuster, Jailer (2023), and about Rs 90 crore for Vettaiyan (2024).
According to reports, Amazon paid Rs 120 crore for Coolie, making it one of the largest OTT purchases in recent Tamil film history.

Rajinikanth plays the main lead in the film. Simon, the main antagonist, is portrayed by Nagarjuna. The actor previously said in a statement that the movie has received a huge amount of positive feedback. Breaking records felt inevitable, and he called Coolie a "celebration of legacy and reinvention." Aamir Khan makes a surprise appearance in the film, which also stars Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir.
