You can now make money by being able to throw up on cue, as Channel 4 are searching for that unique skill.

Channel 4 is known for its bold projects, from its Dispatches series to the recent controversial Bonnie Blue documentary.

Now, the broadcaster is looking for people to be part of a documentary about curing phobias, including helping with emetophobia — the fear of vomit.

Those who sign up will be paid £50 per hour, according to The Sun, in an attempt to cure patients of their worst fears.

In an advert seen by the paper, the title read: ‘Professional Phobia Clinic, actor who can vomit on command’

‘Kindt Clinics London is a new clinic using the MEMREC method,’ it continued. ‘They treat people with specific phobias through a structured, scientific protocol’.

A source told the publication that this advert has ‘raised a lot of eyebrows’ as this was ‘too far for most’, after the call went out to professional actors.

‘£50 an hour to put your body through so much forced stress is also laughable.

It’s likely Channel 4 is once again working with Netherlands-based clinical psychologist Dr Merel Kindt to help patients tackle their phobias.

This comes after the series The Fear Clinic, which first aired in January 2025 and used the MEMREC method for everything from fear of balloons to fear of frogs.

In that series, the sixth and final episode saw a woman, Chloe, who was emetophobic and worried she would pass her fear onto her children.

‘I was never going to be around other people that could potentially be sick,’ she told Metro at the time.

The now-37-year-old said her phobia started when she was around three or four years old, recalling a memory in hospital when her mum was being treated for tonsillitis.

She remembered visiting her mum, who was feeling sick after having her tonsils taken out, and vomited behind a curtain.

‘I was so young, but in my head, I feel like I maybe heard it and I remember being worried for my mum,’ Chloe said. ‘After that, she was talking to my nan, and saying there was blood, and automatically, my mind was in overdrive.

‘I don’t remember leaving the hospital thinking I’m scared of sick now, but it just progressively got worse.’

She called the show a ‘complete life changer’ and she now feels ‘lighter’ and able to help her children when they are unwell.

Metro has reached out to Channel 4 for comment.
