Cartier owner Richemont and jeweller Signet in talks to join consortium to buy diamond giant De Beers

De Beers is most famous for coining the iconic 'A Diamond is Forever' advertising slogan in 1947 and building the world's dominant diamond cartel. Demand for its gems have slumped in recent years.
