The LA Sparks vs. Fever was supposed to be another night of Kelsey Plum and company flying. But it wasn’t either of the teams that stole the spotlight. Instead, it was the officiating that forced everyone on and off the court to reach a boiling point. Just like most of the games this season, physicality once again overshadowed play. And this time, it was Kelsey Mitchell on the receiving end.

It came in the second quarter when the Fever guard was supposedly fouled by Plum. When there was no whistle, the Fever bench erupted, led by CC, who sprang up in outrage, followed by Lexie Hull and the coaching staff. Indy’s roster is already thin, and the lack of protection for Mitchell sparked legitimate concern. But it all didn’t just stop here… at least for Sydney Colson.

After the game, she took to X and put a blunt take online: “At a certain point in the league’s existence, ima need for Kelsey Mitchell to get the same whistle as other stars. The way she gets assaulted is insane actually & I’ve considered roping my sister in to have her office pursue charges.” But that move can make her pay, and CC knows this well. That’s exactly what happened with Sophie Cunningham—not once, but thrice.

So CC raised caution before Colson could say more: “Careful you’re gonna get fined!” she shared with a bit of humor.
