Buddy Killer Unicorn Horror Movie Returning to Theaters as a Sing-Along, Release Date Set

The killer unicorn horror movie Buddy is heading back to theaters. This time, audiences can experience it as a sing-along. The special theatrical release will feature on-screen lyrics for the film’s songs.

Buddy: The Sing-Along Version will open nationwide on Friday, October 2, 2026. Roadside Attractions and Saban Films are bringing the R-rated horror-comedy back to cinemas following a breakout box office run that has surpassed $25 million over five weeks.

The new version will give fans a more interactive way to watch the film. Viewers can dress up, sing along, and participate during the screening. The release follows strong audience reactions, with fans already singing and dancing in theater aisles during regular showings.

The distributors also noted Buddy’s success among independent releases. It delivered the biggest opening of 2026 for a film playing on fewer than 1,800 screens. It has also become Saban Films’ highest-grossing film and Roadside Attractions’ third-highest-grossing release.

Buddy: The Sing-Along Version will include on-screen lyrics for all of the film’s songs. Fans can sing along with favorite songs such as “It’s Buddy!,” “You’ve Got to Be Scared to Be Brave,” and “The Wrong Place in Town.” The release also encourages audiences to dress up and participate throughout the screening.

Before the nationwide release, Buddy: The Sing-Along Version will have a Biggest Night Out Gala Premiere on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The special event will take place at the historic Alex Theater in Glendale, California. The exclusive orange carpet event sold out within three hours of the ticket announcement on Buddy’s social media pages.

Director Casper Kelly will attend the premiere with actors Delaney Quinn, Madison Skyy Polan, CJ Williams, and Luke Speakman. Buddy will also appear at the event and sing along with fans.

Kelly co-wrote Buddy with Jamie King. The film stars Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Patton Oswalt, Michael Shannon, Topher Grace, and Keegan-Michael Key.

The film follows Buddy, a bright orange unicorn who stars in the children’s television show It’s Buddy!. His colorful world centers on children singing, dancing, and spreading happiness. However, one child refuses to play along, causing the seemingly perfect world to take a darker turn.
