The Toronto Blue Jays are hoping for some good news regarding their injured star shortstop.

Bo Bichette, who was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sept. 9 with sprained left knee injury, is in Dallas receiving a second opinion on the injury, according to Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling on Monday.

Zwelling added the Blue Jays are hopeful the second opinion would help formulate a timeline for the slugger’s return, and that Bichette will rejoin the club in Tampa in the coming days.

Bichette sprained his left PCL after a collision at home plate with Yankees catcher Austin Wells. Prior to the injury, the shortstop was slugging .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs in 139 games – the most he’s appeared in since the 2022 season.

The 27-year-old also leads the Majors in hits with 181 and doubles with 44. He’s led the league in hits twice over his seven-year career – 2021 and ’22.

Toronto has rotated utility infielder Ernie Clement and second baseman Andres Gimenez at shortstop in Bichette’s absence. The Tampa Bay Rays host the Jays on Monday with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet.
