The Toronto Blue Jays continued to pare down their roster on Monday as the deadline for final decisions looms.

Eloy Jimenez and Yariel Rodriguez were among six players assigned to minor-league camp, the team announced on Monday.

Jorge Alcala, Josh Fleming, Jesse Hahn and Joe Mantiply were also included in the group.

Jimenez, a former top prospect, had a standout spring with the Blue Jays, slashing .286/.333/.524 with two homers and four doubles in 45 plate appearances.

The 29-year-old hit 31 home runs during his rookie season with the White Sox in 2019 but was never able to replicate that success as he struggled with injury and underperformance over the following five seasons.

Rodriguez, 29, was a key cog in the Blue Jays bullpen in 2025, appearing in 66 games and posting a 3.08 ERA with 66 strikeouts and 34 walks over 73 innings. He did struggle in his four playoff outings, with a 10.13 ERA over 2.2 frames.

He also struggled in spring training, but had a successful World Baseball Classic with Cuba. Rodriguez’s 10 strikeouts led all pitchers in pool play.

The right-handed reliever was then outrighted off the Blue Jays 40-man roster in the off-season, making him available to all 30 teams on waivers, where he went unclaimed.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday morning that the team is deciding between Davis Schneider and Leo Jimenez for their final position-player spot and between Spencer Miles and Chase Lee for the final arm in the bullpen. The team must finalize their roster on Wednesday.
