A newly surfaced design has revealed how Bizarro Superman was envisioned for a canceled DC game. The concept art highlights the character’s monstrous features and offers a rare glimpse into scrapped ideas from an unmade project.
How Bizarro Superman could’ve looked in a canceled DC game
Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz shared a previously unseen look at Bizarro Superman, designed for a canceled DC video game. Posting to Instagram on September 15, 2025, he revealed, “Here’s a fun one from the archives! I got to do a pass on Bizzaro for a canceled game. Love this character! I really wanted to keep him simple.”
Marantz explained that his version drew inspiration from Alex Ross’s interpretation and the Superman animated series. “My favorite Bizzaros over the year have been Alex Ross’s take and the superman animated series. I think I got a little bit of both of them in there,” he wrote.
He added that his workflow often moves quickly. “It’s funny, I often work so fast I don’t have time to collect much reference. I can often tell a couple of days after finishing designs what I must’ve been subconsciously pulling from.”
The design shows Bizarro with gray skin, pronounced facial scarring, and the inverted Superman symbol across his chest and cape. The look emphasizes a twisted, Frankenstein-like counterpart to Superman while maintaining familiar Kryptonian costume elements. Marantz noted, “These characters had such an impact throughout my childhood that they genuinely feel like a part of me.”
Fans responded positively to the reveal in the Instagram comments. One user wrote, “I love how the proportions are so close to Bizarro from Superman TAS.” Another added, “Those 2 Bizarros are my favorite too. I love your take, you really nailed the physique.”
The Bizarro concept joins Marantz’s other revealed artwork from canceled DC projects, including an alternate Batman and King Shark. While the specific title tied to these models has not been identified, several posts from Marantz confirm that the material originated from a halted WB Games project.
