The Bitcoin price stands at $75,692 on Friday morning, November 6, 2026, at around 5:45 a.m., or €67,609. That is a good $5,000 less than on Thursday, when Bitcoin still peaked at $80,721. The gap to the daily low of $75,230 is only about $460. The event that will shape Friday comes at 2:30 p.m. German time, when the US Department of Labor publishes its jobs report for October.

What is established: Bitcoin fell back below its 100-day line at around $76,950 overnight, and price data from CoinGecko shows a 6.2 percent loss over the past 24 hours. Our view of what the afternoon report could do to the Bitcoin price follows further down in a separate, clearly labelled section.

Bitcoin price on Friday morning: a good $5,000 below Thursday's high

The past 24 hours can be summed up in four figures. The high was $80,721, the low $75,230, and the gap between them is 6.8 percent. The current price sits in the bottom tenth of that range. Anyone who bought at around $80,000 on Thursday at midday is now almost six percent down.

The slide was triggered by the sell-off in chip stocks on the Nasdaq on Thursday afternoon. How closely Bitcoin tracked technology shares is broken down in our Thursday evening analysis of the Bitcoin crash to $75,568. There was no rebound overnight: Bitcoin moved sideways just above the low, and the euro price fell to €67,609.

For German investors the euro value matters, because gains and losses are taxed in euros. Compared with the previous day, Bitcoin has lost 5.4 percent in euro terms, slightly less than in dollars, because the euro eased a little against the dollar.

What has changed since the jump above $80,000

On Wednesday evening the picture here looked different. In our article on the jump above $80,000 after the midterms, Bitcoin was just above $80,000 and had left the election-night level of $75,740 far behind. Two days later the situation looks like this:

The $80,000 mark held for only about a day. On Thursday afternoon Bitcoin fell below it and closed the day much lower. The election-night low of $75,740 has broken. The new low of $75,230 is about $500 below it. The 100-day line, which still served Bitcoin as support on Tuesday, now sits above the price at around $76,950. A new figure has come from the fund market: on Wednesday, US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in net inflows of $74.6 million according to the data service SoSoValue, after outflows of around $1.16 billion over the three previous trading days. The inflow came mainly from Fidelity (plus $236.7 million), while BlackRock's IBIT lost $201.2 million.

On balance, the starting point for Friday has worsened. The post-election rally did not last, and the level that was seen as a floor after election night no longer holds.

US jobs report at 2:30 p.m.: why payrolls matter for Bitcoin

The jobs report, officially called the "Employment Situation", is usually released on the first Friday of the month. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has scheduled the October report for Friday, November 6, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. In Germany that is 2:30 p.m., because the US also switched its clocks to winter time last Sunday.

The most important number in the report is nonfarm payrolls, the change in the number of people employed outside agriculture compared with the previous month. The unemployment rate and hourly wage growth also count.

The path from the report to the Bitcoin price runs through the US Federal Reserve. Weak labour market data make a rate cut more likely. Falling rates make money cheaper, push down yields on safe government bonds and so make assets without a running return, such as Bitcoin, relatively more attractive. Strong data work the other way: they support the dollar and bond yields and take rate-cut hopes out of the market. The next Federal Reserve meeting is scheduled for December 8 and 9; before then, only one more jobs report is due, on December 4.

One caveat belongs here. A weak report can also be read as a sign of recession. In that case investors sell risky assets across the board, and Bitcoin falls with equities despite rising rate-cut expectations. Thursday showed how closely Bitcoin is tied to the Nasdaq this week.

October forecast: 59,000 new jobs after 29,000 in September

For October, economists expect on average 59,000 additional jobs and an unchanged unemployment rate of 4.2 percent, according to the financial magazine Kiplinger. The comparison figure is weak: according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 29,000 jobs were added in September, and the rate was also 4.2 percent.

For the price, the deviation from expectations matters more than the absolute number. Three scenarios are possible this afternoon:

Well below 59,000 jobs and a rising rate: the market prices in a December rate cut more strongly. That helps Bitcoin, as long as equity markets do not read the figure as a recession signal. Roughly in line with expectations: the report removes uncertainty from the market without setting a direction. Chip stocks and ETF flows then drive the day again. Well above and with strong wage growth: bond yields rise and the dollar firms. For Bitcoin this is the least favourable case, because it would hit a price that is already weakened.

There is also a revision: with every report, the department also corrects the two previous months. A sharp downward revision for September can devalue a decent October figure.

Bitcoin below its 100-day line: around $76,950 is now the ceiling

A moving average is the mean of closing prices over a fixed number of days. The 100-day line shows the medium-term trend, the 200-day line the long-term one. Many traders use both as reference points, which is why the price often reacts at them.

Based on CoinGecko daily closing prices, the three common lines for Bitcoin stand at these levels on Friday morning:

50-day line: around $82,000, 8.3 percent above the current price 100-day line: around $76,950, 1.7 percent above 200-day line: around $73,200, 3.3 percent below

Bitcoin is thus stuck between the 100-day and 200-day lines. This is the zone that will decide whether the decline since early October turns into a longer downtrend. On October 6, Bitcoin still cost a good $85,700; since then the price has lost almost twelve percent.

Key Bitcoin price levels: $75,230, $73,200 and $80,000

Three levels can be justified for Friday, each from a different source.

Downside: $75,230, then $73,200

The first level is the 24-hour low at $75,230. It is only 0.6 percent below the current price. If Bitcoin falls below it, there is no further support from recent weeks before the 200-day line at around $73,200. The 200-day line would then be the next test.

Upside: $76,950, then $80,000

Above the price sits the 100-day line at around $76,950. Only a daily close above it would partly reverse Thursday's slide. The next level is the round number of $80,000, where Bitcoin was rejected on Thursday. That is 5.7 percent away, roughly the distance Bitcoin covered on the way down within a few hours on Thursday.

Our assessment: in the newsroom's view, a test of the 200-day line is more likely than a quick return above $80,000. The evidence is the broken election-night floor at $75,740, the price below the 100-day line and the dependence on chip stocks, which lost up to eleven percent on Thursday. Against this stand Wednesday's ETF inflow, which shows that buyers step in at prices around $77,000, and the chance of a weak jobs report that makes a December rate cut more likely. This is not a buy or sell recommendation; Bitcoin can also fall well below these levels in a short time.

Buying Bitcoin in euros: where the €67,609 price applies

The dollar price is the world market price. Anyone buying in Germany pays in euros, and prices on different trading venues diverge more on report day than on quiet days. Two points are worth checking before placing an order this afternoon.

First, the spread, the gap between the buy and sell price. With fixed-price brokers it is often built into the price; on exchanges with an order book you can see it directly. In the minutes after 2:30 p.m. it can widen noticeably at smaller providers. Second, the licence: since the end of the transition periods, only providers licensed under the EU's MiCA regulation may sell crypto assets to customers in Germany. Which trading venues hold this licence and what they charge per order is shown in our comparison of crypto exchanges.

A limit order with a fixed price protects you from paying much more than planned in a fast market. A market order is executed at the next available price, which in the first minutes after the report can make a difference of several hundred dollars.

Leverage on report day: at 20x, liquidation sits at around $72,200

A liquidation is the forced closing of a leveraged position by the exchange when the posted collateral no longer covers the losses. On Thursday exactly this mechanism accelerated the slide: every long position that is wiped out is a forced sale.

How far away the liquidation lies depends almost entirely on the leverage. For a long position opened at the current price of around $75,700, the rough levels are as follows, before fees and depending on the exchange's maintenance margin:

5x leverage: liquidation at around $61,000, almost 20 percent away 10x leverage: liquidation at around $68,500, almost 10 percent away 20x leverage: liquidation at around $72,200, less than 5 percent away

Thursday's range was 6.8 percent. A position with 20x leverage would not have survived it, and one with 10x only just. On the day of a jobs report, swings of this size within an hour are not unusual. If you trade with leverage, recalculate your liquidation price before 2:30 p.m. and set a stop-loss above it. What leveraged products cost in Germany and which providers cap losses at the capital invested is covered in our comparison of crypto brokers.

Bitcoin and the holding period: November 2025 purchases are 25 percent down

A year ago, on November 7, 2025, Bitcoin cost around $101,300. Compared with today's price, that is a loss of a good 25 percent. For investors in Germany this date has a tax angle.

Gains from selling Bitcoin are tax-free under Section 23 of the German Income Tax Act if more than a year passes between purchase and sale. The same applies in reverse to losses: a loss from a sale after the one-year period is also irrelevant for tax purposes and can no longer be offset against gains from other private disposals.

So anyone who bought in early November 2025 at prices around $100,000 and has realised gains from other coins this year faces a deadline. A sale before the anniversary makes the loss deductible; a sale afterwards does not. If you want to keep the position, you can sell and buy again, although the holding period then starts over. We summarise the current state of the planned holding-period reform on our page on the crypto holding period.

What counts is the purchase date of each individual tranche. Anyone who has bought in instalments over several years needs a record based on the FIFO method, the principle that coins bought first are treated as sold first. Without such a record, it is impossible to say which parts of the position fall within the holding period.

Bitcoin on report day: below $75,230, the 200-day line is waiting

Friday has two fixed times: the jobs report at 2:30 p.m. and the opening of US stock markets at 3:30 p.m. German time. Three steps for the day:

Note the levels: $75,230 as the daily low, $76,950 as the 100-day line, $73,200 as the 200-day line. A purchase in euros should go through a MiCA-licensed provider; the cost per order is shown in the exchange comparison. Review leverage: if your position's liquidation price is within five percent, it is too tight for a report day. Providers that cap losses are listed in the broker comparison. Pull purchase dates: for purchases from November 2025, get the exact day from the exchange's history and work out the one-year deadline. A crypto tax tool does this for all tranches at once.
