The world is filled with mysteries beyond the human mind's comprehension, and Twin Peaks is certainly among them. In a different world, however, it could have been much easier to understand. Not many people know about it, but, before the original series was picked up for production in the late 1980s, creators David Lynch and Mark Frost had to make two different versions of the pilot episode. The original one thankfully became the most famous, setting the stage for Twin Peaks to change television forever as one of the finest pieces of the medium. The other version, the international extended pilot, works more as a standalone TV movie where Laura Palmer's (Sheryl Lee) murder is solved and clarified before the end.
