Baeksang Arts Awards 2024: Namkoong Min Wins Best Actor Award for My Dearest

Baeksang Arts Awards 2024 was held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and the event saw A-list celebrities from TV, film, and more in attendance. Namkoong Min won the Best Actor award for his role in the highly popular MBC K-drama My Dearest. In the series, he essays the role of Lee Jang-Hyun, who loses all hope of finding love until he meets Yu Gil-Chae (Ahn Eun-Jin). The drama premiered on August 4, 2023, and aired in two parts, becoming one of the most beloved dramas of the year.

Baeksang Arts Awards celebrates the year’s most outstanding works in broadcast, cable, and streaming, among other fields. Popular stars gathered at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center, South Korea, for the ceremony in full glitz and glamor. Wonderland co-stars Park Bo-Gum and Suzy, alongside comedian Shin Dong-Yup, served as hosts for the event. The award show aired live on JTBC, JTBC2, JTBC4 and PRIZM. 

Baeksang Arts Awards 2024: Namkoong Min wins award for his role in MBC’s My Dearest

Namkoong Min earned the Best Actor award for his role in the MBC K-drama My Dearest at the Baeksang Arts Awards 2024. Meanwhile, he beat other nominees in the category, including Kim Soo-Hyun (Queen of Tears), Ryu Seung-Ryeong (Moving), Yoo Yoon-Seok (A Bloody Lucky Day), and Im Siwan (Boyhood).

The actor graciously accepted the award, and his My Dearest co-star Ahn Eun-Jin seemed visibly emotional at his win. In My Dearest, Namkoong Min plays the beloved character Lee Jang-Hyun, who remains skeptical of love and marriage until he meets the bubbly Yu Gil-Chae. As the two grow fond of each other, the outbreak of a war, a love triangle, and secrets lead to relationship troubles. However, the two overcome various obstacles, including their feelings, to finally get back together. 

My Dearest also won the Best Drama award at the Baeksang Arts Awards 2024. Furthermore, Ahn Eun-Jin earned a worthy Best Actress nomination for her role in the series. The drama is available to stream on Viki.

Throughout the event, many stars and movies received recognition. Lee Do-Hyun, Kim Soo-Hyun, Kim Go-Eun, Honey Lee, and other actors who were part of popular series earned their well-deserved awards. Many movies and series, including Exhuma, Worst of Evil, Moving, Mask Girl, My Dearest, 12.12: The Day, also received notable awards.
