Emmerdale’s April (Amelia Flanagan) and Dylan (Fred Kettle) are securely in the clutches of dangerous drug lord Ray (Joe Absolom), and there’s no way out.
The second April agreed to do the first drop for Ray, it was obvious she would be sucked in. She agreed to the first drop after pressure. She agreed to the second drop to protect Dylan, and by the third she was in.
But after the third went sideways and Swirling almost caught her, April was left with a huge bill to pay off for the loss of Ray’s drugs – not knowing he’d set the whole thing up to trap her.
Since her time on the streets, April has given off a vibe that she knows how the world works, but her naivety around Ray has proven otherwise. Having not seen his tactics coming, all she sees now is that she owes him stacks of cash, and he seems to be being quite reasonable about it.
But now she’s in, Ray has no intention of letting her go. Or Dylan, for that matter.
After her latest deal went south, Ray sits her down for a chat. While sceptical, she accepts what he says and heads off to see Dylan, where she reveals she thinks something is off about the way Ray acts like he only wants good things for them. When she later bumps into Ray again, she apologises for what she did and lets slip that Dylan got the job at the depot – a little nugget of information that Ray welcomes.
Ross spots her looking worried and invites her for a chat in the café. She’s on the brink of telling him everything.
Dylan foolishly thinks he’s got himself free of Ray but a text from the big boss reminds him otherwise, there’s no escape.
But he’s determined to have a normal life and thrills Paddy (Dominic Brunt) when he says he wants to learn to drive. While he’s starting to enjoy life, April’s is crumbling. She is shocked to learn just how much she owes Ray. Ray has her exactly where he wants her and offers her a solution to bring the figure down faster, which ramps up the danger rating by 100.

Ray takes her to a carpark and explains what’s expected of her, then shows her what the consequences of disobeying will be – a lad who’s been badly beaten who could be her with one foot wrong.
April takes on a deal and executes it perfectly. She then accepts a burner phone, and just like that, she is officially a drug dealer.
Meanwhile, Paddy is trying to act like Dylan’s father figure, but he has no idea that Ray has got his claws back in. But that’s a role Ray wants, and he presents Dylan with a huge gift, buying his favour. Dylan and April know that they’re in danger, but they have no idea just how much. What’s Ray’s next plan for them?
