Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) has been left hospitalised after the near-fatal hit and run in Coronation Street earlier this week, but police already have a suspect in custody.

Poor Ty went flying over the bonnet of a stolen car, which left him with broken bones in his spine, a doctor revealed in tonight’s episode.

She explained to Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine), Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) and Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) that Tyrone would need to undergo surgery in the coming days.

As Fiz comforted Hope and Ruby (Isabella Flanagan and Billie Naylor), she assured them that the police would soon catch the person who had left Tyrone for dead – and she was right.

While Tyrone’s family kept him company at his bedside, a concerned George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) confronted Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).

George had spotted Dylan driving a stolen car before Tyrone was hit, and when he overheard Carla Connor (Alison King) giving a description of the car, he realised that it was the same one.

Though Dylan argued that he was mistaken as he hadn’t even passed his test, George made it clear that the person behind the wheel was the spitting image of the youngster, and mentioned that he regretted not calling the police the moment he’d saw him speeding.

Spooked by George’s threat of going to the police, Dylan paid a visit to Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey), his partner in crime.

Dylan and Brody had been working for Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) as part of his stolen car scam when they had an argument over Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) while Dylan was driving.

Though they weren’t on the best of terms after their spat, Dylan had the foresight to warn Brody that George was onto them, and suggested that they should lay low for a while.

However, Brody was confident that everything would be fine, as long as they carried on as normal. He pointed out that George clearly hadn’t been to the police yet, else they would have come knocking.

Unfortunately for Dylan, Brody’s suspicions proved wrong, as he was later arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop and report an incident.

Dylan was quick to assert his innocence, insisting that he had proof, and Brody jumped at the chance to back him up.

When their attempts failed, Brody turned to dad DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) for help, but he was more concerned in establishing whether or not Brody had been involved in the hit and run.

Brody assured him he hadn’t, but will Kit find out otherwise? And is this the end of the road for Dylan, or will he find a way out of his current situation when he is questioned next week?
