Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) took action this week in EastEnders to try and defend herself from Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey), but it resulted in her killing him.
Amy was groomed by disgraced detective Craig, who first crossed paths with her when investigating the attack on Joel Marshall (Max Murray).
When Amy confessed to the crime, Craig used her admission to manipulate her into trusting only him, claiming to have her best interests at heart.
Craig was suspended at his work due to his treatment of female colleagues, but he claimed to Amy that he lost his job after protecting her. Knowing that he had money woes, Amy told Craig that she’d get her hands on her inheritance early so that they could flee Walford and start afresh elsewhere.
With some help from Max Branning (Jake Wood), Amy successfully accessed the funds and fled the Square with Craig, much to the horror of dad Jack (Scott Maslen).
The story also saw Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) return to help Jack find Amy.
As the scales started to fall from the young woman’s eyes, Amy tried to avoid another violent outburst from Craig by locking herself in the bathroom.
When Craig pushed his way in, he found himself on the receiving end of a candlestick courtesy of a terrified Amy.
In upcoming episodes, Amy remains overwhelmed by what she’s done and falls out with Jack and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman).
When Sean finds Amy, he encourages her to take some time away from Walford, but Jack arrives and orders her home.
It’s Denise Fox (Diane Parish) who makes Jack see sense, and they decide to arrange for Amy to stay with family away from Walford while she recovers from recent events.
A dark road lies ahead for Amy as she attempts to process what she did to Craig, and suffice to say things won’t ever be the same again for her.
Reflecting on how Sean feels about Amy, star Rob Kazinsky recently shared: ‘Sean never stopped thinking of Amy as his child, he held her in his arms as his daughter and finding out she wasn’t his was the hardest thing that ever happened to him.
‘He will protect her and love her as only a father ever could. He swore to Roxy that he would do so and nothing stops him keeping promises to Roxy Mitchell.’
