Famous author Amish Tripathi has launched his new book The Chola Tigers: Avengers of Somnath. On this occasion, he shared his opinion on Bollywood's historical films and said that often historical characters are not presented correctly. Tripathi said, "We think Alauddin Khilji looks like Ranveer Singh, Akbar looks like Hrithik Roshan, or Aurangzeb looks like Akshaye Khanna, which is not true. They were all from the steppes of Central Asia. If we actually travelled back in time and saw them, to us they would look Chinese." He also added that these people had also invaded China and wreaked rule over there.
What did Amish Tripathi say about Bollywood?
Comparing the portrayal of British rulers in Bollywood, Tripathi said that the British rulers in the film look foreign as soon as they appear and they speak English. At the same time, historical figures like Khijli are shown speaking Urdu by making them look like Ranveer Singh, which makes the audience feel that they are domestic and understandable. But this does not match the reality. The author clarified that it is important to present the correct form of historical characters and their real history. In his words, "But Khilji is shown as Ranveer Singh speaking Urdu, which makes him seem relatable and homegrown. That's not accurate."
What is Ranveer Singh's next project?
At the same time, the first look of the film Dhurandhar will soon be seen in Indian theaters. This 2 minute 42 second video has already been released digitally and has been given a U/A 16+ certificate by the CBFC. It will be attached to the film Param Sundari in theaters, which is releasing on 5 December 2025. The digital launch of the first look took place on Ranveer Singh's birthday and it received 53 million views on YouTube in six days and over 200 million views on other platforms.
Director Aditya Dhar has created a new world in Dhurandhar, which is a mix of vastness, mystery, emotions and high-end action. He has teamed up with Jio Studios and Lokesh Dhar's B62 Studios to create another big, bold and unique project after his previous work Article 370 and Dhoom Dham.
