Alexander Skarsgård Gets Bizarre in New Wicker Poster Ahead of Rumored Marvel Role

Alexander Skarsgård‘s latest look has fans doing a double take. The new poster for his upcoming fantasy rom-com Wicker shows his unusual transformation for the role. The Emmy Award winner has previously been the subject of MCU casting speculation, including reports linking him to Nova.

As shared by @DiscussingFilm on X, the exclusive poster shows Skarsgård’s wicker-woven character dipping Olivia Colman in a romantic pose. The rom-com premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2026 and was received well. As of writing, it holds a 91% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 23 reviews.

Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson wrote and directed the R-rated movie. It adapts Ursula Wills’ short story titled The Wicker Husband. Dev Patel was initially attached to star alongside Colman before being replaced by Skarsgård.

What to know about Olivia Colman & Alexander Skarsgård’s Wicker

The plot revolves around a lonely fisherwoman, played by Colman, who gets fed up with constant mocking from her neighbors. To find a love companion, she takes an unusual approach that causes tension within the conservative village.

The film’s official synopsis reads, “On the outskirts of a village by the sea, lives a Fisherwoman; smelly, single and perpetually ridiculed. One day, fed up with her stuffy, small-minded neighbors, she commissions herself a husband to be made from wicker. In an otherwise conservative town, this unconventional romance sparks outrage, jealousy and chaos.”

Alongside Colman and Skarsgård, the film also stars Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki, Marli Siu, Nabhaan Rizwan, Richard E. Grant, and Ben Ashenden. Filming took place in Budapest and was concluded in September last year.

Colman also serves as a producer alongside Ed Sinclair and Tom Carver from South of The River, David Michôd and Brad Zimmerman for Yoki, Inc., and Justin Lothrop and Brent Stiefel for Votiv.

Distributed by BlackBear Pictures, the 105-minute film is scheduled to be released on October 23, 2026.
