Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has a knack for getting on the front covers, mostly because she has either broken another record or is receiving an award for breaking said record. This time around, though, Wilson is back in the headlines before even stepping onto the hardwood.

Ahead of the Aces’ 100-82 victory over the Phoenix Mercury, A’ja Wilson was involved in a backstage incident with one of the staff members at PHX Arena in Phoenix. That clip is now viral all over social media, leaving fans in wonder and shock.

In the clip posted by Hoop Central on X, Wilson, as the leader of the Aces, was the first player to run out of the tunnel. However, the staff member was standing right in front of the curtain, which led to an unexpected collision. Thankfully, the worker was fine after the accident, and concerned voices asked if she was okay.

Regardless, the clip has now garnered over a million views on X, as fans had a lot to react to over the short event, mainly regarding Wilson and her reaction after the whole matter.

“Don’t help her up and make sure she’s ok or anything.” One user sarcastically wrote, as they were not pleased that A’ja Wilson did not help the worker after being involved in the incident in the first place.

“Just looks at her and doesn’t even apologize.” Another fan wrote. “Couldn’t even help her up and make sure she’s okay??” More such comments followed.

As per the clip, while Wilson was in shock after colliding with the staff member, there was no actual response from her, and she went ahead after the other Aces players caught up. Fans basically wanted to see Wilson have a better reaction regarding the staff member involved in the minor accident.

“Imagine looking in that direction and you blatantly decide to walk anyway while noticing a WNBA team running through.” Meanwhile, some users instead put the spotlight on the staff member. There is a belief among them that the worker actually saw Wilson running out of the tunnel while she was looking from behind the curtain. However, some fans argued back that the worker did not have enough time to react and move away from the tunnel.

“ngl, she mad tall, thought that was AD running out.” Another side of the comments section was simply awestruck by A’ja Wilson’s size compared to the staff member. Wilson is 6’4″ and weighs 195 pounds, and she looked like a giant in front of the staff member. So much so that this fan thought it was NBA star Anthony Davis running out of the tunnel.

“Maaaaaan she looked like a giant compared to that lady.” More such comments followed.

While the WNBA world was more fixated on Wilson’s accidental collision with the staff member, that does not mean the Aces star had a quiet game. On the contrary, she was once again at her level best, scoring 34 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.

The Las Vegas Aces close out their regular season with a seven-game win streak. While they had a chance to finish second in the standings, that hope was lost when the Golden State Valkyries came from behind to beat the Los Angeles Sparks 76-75.

The third-seeded Aces will now face the sixth-seeded Indiana Fever in the first round of the playoffs, as fans will rejoice watching A’ja Wilson face off against Caitlin Clark for the first time in the postseason, since CC was on the injury list when the Aces beat the Fever in the semifinals last season.

However, this season, the Fever are 2-1 up against the Aces. Granted, Wilson did not play in one of those losses. Still, it will be a tough match for Wilson and co. as the Fever’s Aliyah Boston has always given her a tough time whenever they clash on the post-up.

But the three-time champions are not pushovers, to say the least, so Aces-Fever is already turning out to be one of the most anticipated first-round matchups in recent memory.
