It’s time for the latest happenings in the world of mystery and thriller books. You know I’ve got you covered with adaptation news, but there’s also a new Miss Marple audiobook, a list of big fall books to know, an awesome cover reveal, and a chat about a new heist novel.

Dan Brown’s The Secret Of Secrets may have found a new Langdon

The Secret of Secrets cover

Netflix is adapting Dan Brown’s latest Robert Langdon book, The Secret of Secrets, into a series, and Deadline has reported that Tom Hanks will be passing the acting baton on to Morgan Spector.

Spy School series is getting an adaptation

Chris Fedak, who co-created the fun late-aughts series’ Chuck, is back with another spy show. This time it’s for Disney+ and based on a middle grade book series by Stuart Gibbs. Spy School follows a teen whose new magnet school for science is also secretly a CIA academy.

Perfect Cover is Perfect

Viola Davis and Lavaille Lavette have co-written a middle grade novel that has an excellent title (Girl, I Think My Grandma’s a Spy) and cover. The book will be out in 2027, and you can see the cover reveal at People here.

All About the Heist Novel

A Heist Novel by Gary Phillips

Gary Phillips talked to CrimeReads about his new heist novel (stealing from a tech billionaire!), The Haul. “I purposely didn’t want the tech character to be Musk because he’s such a cartoon in and of himself. Then I thought, there’s Balmer and he has this basketball team. That’s kind of interesting.”

Toni Collette as Miss Marple

Audible Original’s full-cast adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Murder At The Vicarage will have Toni Collette as the voice of Miss Marple. While you wait for the August 13th release, you can check out the rest of the cast, which includes alums from Game of Thrones, Normal People, Silo, and Ghosts.

The Biggest Books of Fall 2026

Barnes & Noble rounded up fiction books coming out this fall. As you can imagine, there are mysteries, thrillers, and horror on there, including the conclusion to Colson Whitehead’s Harlem trilogy, a new Miss Marple mystery, the latest from Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty, and more.
