Dealing with a real-life giant monster attacking your city and destroying all your stuff would be horrifying for hopefully obvious reasons (a real "goes without saying" kind of thing that nevertheless was just said), but seeing it happen on screen, in a giant monster movie, is often fun. But it’s fun in the same way that seeing people get in danger in action or thriller movies can be entertaining, all the while maintaining that being in such situations in real life would be terrible.
