Back in 1998, the rock genre saw a surge of hits that would go on to become classics decades later. This included Semisonic’s “Closing Time,” New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give,” Lenny Kravitz’s “Fly Away,” and Hole’s “Celebrity Skin,” among a handful of others. Indeed, it was a standout year for the genre. However, it was during the summer of 1998 that a song truly defining the era emerged: the emotional power ballad “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. 27 years later, the track remains one of the band’s most iconic — and notably, the only Aerosmith song to have reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
