Buddy looks like the children’s show you might have watched every morning before school, provided your parents never checked what was on TV. Its enormous orange unicorn mascot promises to be friends with everyone, even as children begin disappearing and the world around them becomes increasingly difficult to trust. The movie is funny, deeply strange, and much more interested in messing with your head than letting you settle into a familiar slasher.
