NBC has renewed a sports mockumentary sitcom starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe for a second season. The series premiered in January to strong ratings and unanimous critical praise.
NBC renews The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins for Season 2
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Season 2 renewal, reportedly confirmed ahead of NBCUniversal’s May 11 upfront presentation, is for a 10-episode season. The pickup makes the series one of the few new broadcast comedies from the 2025-2026 cycle to secure a sophomore run.
The mockumentary-style NBC sitcom debuted January 18 in the coveted post-NFL playoff slot, a scheduling tactic that helped push the premiere to more than 14 million viewers. The network reports the episode ranks as the most-watched comedy telecast of the season across all broadcast networks. Beyond its football-fueled launch, the series has sustained momentum, finishing its first season as the highest-rated new comedy in the adults 18-49 demographic (via Deadline).
Critics embraced the show with equal enthusiasm. Season 1 of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkinseason holds a 100% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Tracy Morgan plays Reggie Dinkins, a fallen football star attempting to repair his reputation through a documentary being made by Arthur Tobin. He is an award-winning filmmaker played by Daniel Radcliffe. The cast also includes Erika Alexander as Reggie’s ex-wife, Monica, and Precious Way as his current girlfriend, Brina. Additionally, Jalyn Hall plays his son Carmelo, and Bobby Moynihan plays his friend Rusty.
The series was co-created by Robert Carlock and Sam Means, both frequent Tina Fey collaborators. Carlock and Means are also co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Fey, Morgan, Eric Gurian, and David Miner. Universal Television leads the production group.
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Season 2 renewal comes as NBC finalizes its scripted lineup. The network has already renewed Happy’s Place, St. Denis Medical, and all three Chicago dramas. While canceling freshman comedy Stumble and medical drama Brilliant Minds. The Hunting Party and the original Law & Order have yet to receive decisions.
