One of the best things about television is that people get to spend a lot more time with the characters and world than they would if the project were a film. This gets people incredibly attached to characters and keeps them invested for years, so long as the show is good. If the quality is, for the most part, consistent throughout its entire run, a long-running television show can be something magical.
