New Star Wars Series to Unite These Skywalker Family Members for 1st Time

The new LEGO Star Wars series will bring together the Skywalker family for the first time in the history of the franchise. The unexpected reunion of Anakin, Padmé, Luke Skywalker, and Leia is set to take place in Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past, the second season of the animated show.

For the first time in the Star Wars franchise, Anakin, Padmé, Luke, and Leia Skywalker appear as a family unit on screen. This development arrives with LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past, the second season of the animated series. It premieres September 19 on Disney+.

Writer and executive producer Benji Samit opened up about the creative choice during an interview with StarWars.com. He explained that the decision to feature all four Skywalkers together was a rare opportunity. 

Samit said, “This may be the only opportunity to ever see the Skywalker family unit, to get all four of them interacting with each other.” He added, “It felt like something that maybe we could be the only ones to show that to the fans and to ourselves.”

The reunion is significant in the series, as this interaction has never occurred within the Star Wars universe. Padmé died shortly after childbirth, leaving Luke and Leia without their mother. Meanwhile, their father, Anakin, had already fallen to the dark side before the birth of the twins. Luke ultimately came face-to-face with him much later. On the other hand, Leia never met with Anakin in any form. 

Samit further divulged that Padmé might have a pirate-related backstory in the show. Beyond the long-awaited Skywalker reunion, the new season also introduces other striking changes. This includes an alternate version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has turned to the evil side. 

All four episodes of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past will debut at once on Disney+.
