Some theorize that the era of the tween is dead; that we are living in a binary world, almost like it was before the 1950s, in which there are now only children and adults, and the problem is that those in between are in such a hurry to be the latter that they have no desire to enjoy that special middle ground that used to be an entity all of its own. It feels like the current state of media reflects this. Sure, there is just about stuff still aimed at teenagers, but that usually means kids of sixteen and older. Stuff like Stranger Things and American Horror Story (notably, such offerings seem to be relegated to series format). The world is more brutal, fast-paced, and disposable than ever, so surely there has never been more reason, or a better time, for young people to just slow down and take in the utterly unique phase of life they are in. That's why we need more movies like Xeno.
