Marvel officially introduces a new X-Men hero, and he pulls off what may be the most breathtaking comic book debut in mutant history. Many of the characters now associated with the X-Men made their first appearance as standalone figures. For example, Wolverine famously made his full debut in The Incredible Hulk #181 as a government-sanctioned weapon, while Rogue first appeared as an Avengers villain in Avengers Annual #10 and Mystique started out as a Carol Danvers antagonist in Ms. Marvel #16.
