From out of the wily, windy moors, the first teaser for Emerald Fennell's upcoming Wuthering Heights' adaptation has emerged online, sparking some excitement and a lot of outrage. Fans of the 1847 novel of the same name penned by Emily Brontë have been complaining about the film, set to be released in 2026, ever since the first news of its cast hit the internet. The core complaint has to do with Jacob Elordi's casting as brooding romantic anti-hero Heathcliff, a character that is described as being a man of color in the book and that is now being played by a very white actor. Now, on social media, the teaser has also ignited a fiery debate over the age of another protagonist, Margot Robbie, who has been chosen to bring Catherine Earnshaw to life; the decision to set the whole story to music bypop icon Charli XCX; and the overall horniness of the promised film.
