Since 2008's famous one-two-punch of Iron Man and The Dark Knight, the superhero genre has been one of the most influential and hotly debated in modern cinema. And while the successive negative receptions of several film and television projects from both Marvel and DC in the early 2020s have increased suspicion that a widespread feeling of "superhero fatigue" will lead the genre to fall out of favor (as its fiercest detractors seem to hope), an upcoming banner year of high-profile new releases could refute this idea in the strongest possible terms. DC Studios announced Superman follow-up Man of Tomorrow last week, with David Corenswet confirmed to reprise the role of Clark Kent after making a strong impression in the reboot film.
