
The official Wicked: For Good runtime has been revealed for Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated musical fantasy sequel starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. The movie is still slated to premiere in theaters on November 21, 2025.
“As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time,” the official synopsis reads. “With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.”
What is the Wicked: For Good runtime?
According to AMC Theaters, Wicked: For Good will officially have a total runtime of 138 minutes, or approximately 2 hours and 18 minutes. This makes the upcoming movie 22 minutes shorter than 2024’s Wicked: Part 1, which has a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Jon M. Chu is directing the sequel from a screenplay written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. The sequel will also feature the return of Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In a previous interview, Bailey teased that the “world gets heavier and more complicated” in the sequel, while also expressing his excitement for fans to see the tonal shift in the story.
The first installment currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 402 reviews. It won two of its ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
