Concerns about Solène’s work ethic have built throughout the season. Fraser told her, “I’ve been frustrated many, many, many times. I know you’re working when you’re working, but when you’re not, other people are still working. And that’s frustrating for the team.” Fellow stew Rainbeau de Roos echoed this, texting Fraser, “Soléne has been terrible tonight AGAIN. I don’t know what to do.”

Other crew members also weighed in. Deckhand Damo Yorg said her approach showed “a blatant disrespect towards the people that she’s living and working with.” Lead deckhand Jess Theron added that Solène “is a bit of an apple at the moment that’s rotting.”

In an attempt to manage tensions, Fraser instructed bosun Hugo Ortega and the deck team not to speak to Solène during charters, believing distractions reduced her productivity. When Solène discovered this, she confronted Captain Kerry Titheradge, who clarified that Fraser made the rule and noted, “She’s the one who needs to start doing her work.”

Despite crew frustrations, Fraser explained in his confessional, “An easy way out is firing people. I really want to finish this season with the same team that I set out with.” Still, he underlined the ultimatum: Solène must improve or risk being let go before the end of the season.
