Daredevil: Born Again may have received strong reviews upon its release last year, but for Bullseye actor Wilson Bethel, the return was reportedly not ideal. In a recent interview, Bethel revealed that the first season of Daredevil: Born Again was “frustrating” for him, especially when compared to the quality of the ongoing Season 2.

During a recent appearance on the Brandon Davis Show, Bullseye actor Wilson Bethel said that a lack of spectacle in Daredevil: Born Again’s first season left him wanting more.

“My only frustration, and I don’t think I’m setting the world on fire with this comment, but I think…I have so much respect for what this show is and has been,” the Young and Restless alum said. “I think the fans are so deeply invested, have so much respect for this show, hold it to such a high standard…It was frustrating for me a little bit that we had to settle at all in coming back with that first season. I wanted the quality of this season, Season 2 Born Again, that’s what I wanted for the first season.”

He further added, “People had been waiting six, seven years…how different does it hit if out the gate you get a f—— banger season of TV? And we had some good moments, but it was not that f—— [level of], ‘Oh s—! Daredevil’s back.’ But whatever, man…we made it.”

While Bethel, who made his debut as Bullseye in the third season of Netflix’s Daredevil, may feel a bit let down by Born Again Season 1, critics and fans have appeared satisfied. At the time of writing, the first season holds a Tomatometer score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, along with a 78% rating on the Popcornmeter.
