Who Shot Drew on General Hospital?

Rommie Analytics

Any time a soap character starts racking up enemies left and right, fans anticipate a whodunit, and given how unpopular Congressman Cain has become, it was pretty much inevitable someone would try to take him out. But of all the candidates, who shot Drew on General Hospital? Given the large number of people who hated the guy, the Port Charles Police Department could have a doozy of a time narrowing down that list of suspects! Let’s run down the likely candidates (minus Jason — though he’s definitely no fan of his twin brother, he’s off the hook because he wasn’t in the country at the time!), and then you can vote for who you think did it in our poll at the end!

Alexis

GH Drew Molly AlexisDisney/Bahareh Ritter

Alexis has been clashing regularly with Drew over Scout, his daughter and her granddaughter. The attorney has argued that her late daughter, Sam, would have wanted her daughter to be close to her entire family, while Drew is of the opinion that none of them can be trusted and he’s the only one fit to care for Scout. This has led to some pretty heated arguments, including a very public one where Alexis leveled some pretty serious threats. After he slapped her with a restraining order blocking her access to Scout, might she go through with them?

Carly

GH Laura Wright Cameron MathisonABC

Despite having a romantic history with Drew, their relationship soured ages ago, and she’s only grown to dislike him more as time went on. She was already upset when her son’s marriage fell apart after Willow cheated on Michael with Drew. But as Drew continued to scheme and manipulate in the hopes of getting Willow full custody of her and Michael’s children, Carly grew more and more incensed and even threatened to kill him right to his face! She has a habit of going full mama bear when her children are threatened, so did Carly break out the claws?

Curtis

GH Donnell Turner Cameron MathisonABC

After being forced out of Aurora Media by Curtis and Michael, Drew has been targeting both men in different ways. Drew blackmailed Curtis’s wife, Portia, into doing his bidding, and then used his political influence to sic the authorities on his Aunt Stella to get her arrested for insurance fraud. Curtis is sick of Drew targeting his family and has been grumbling about how he needs to be stopped. Did Curtis decide he needs to be the one to do it?

Martin

martin and drewABC

In his career as an attorney, Martin has had no compunction about representing not-so-innocent people (Nelle, anyone?), so it was no surprise that he was happy to work as Drew’s legal counsel. That is, until he discovered that his casual mention of Stella helping him with his insurance issues following his bad fall gave the congressman more ammunition to go after Curtis’s family. That proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back, and Martin severed ties with Drew. The lawyer has shown he has no problem bending the law when it suits him, but would he break it?

Michael

GH Rory Gibson Cameron MathisonABC

Given that Drew’s affair with Willow tore Michael’s family apart, he’s got very good reason to want his uncle taken care of. And Drew’s constant needling of how much Willow loved him and how much happier she was with him was just rubbing salt in the wound. Michael seemed to win a decisive victory when the judge ruled in his favor in the custody hearing. After goading Michael into punching him and trying to get him arrested for assault, Drew then threatened to reveal that the judge had been paid off. But if push came to shove, would Michael really risk losing custody of his kids by committing murder?

Nina

cynthia watros, cameron mathisonABC

Sure, Nina’s intense dislike of Drew did lead to some hate sex, but they both agreed that was a terrible mistake. And knowing what kind of a guy he’s really like, Nina has been desperately trying to keep him out of Willow’s life. That has proven easier said than done, and when a horrified Nina learned that Drew had lured Willow back into his clutches, she warned, “I swear, if you hurt my daughter, I’ll see you dead.” How far would she really go to take Drew out of the picture? Remember, this is still the same woman who once drugged Ava to steal her newborn baby!

Portia

GH Portia DrewDisney/Christine Bartolucci

When Drew found out she tampered with Heather’s blood test results to try and keep her in prison, Portia found herself being blackmailed by the congressman. Drew forced her to use her influence with Curtis to create more positive press coverage and cancel out potentially damaging stories. Then, when Portia teamed with Nina to hire an escort to slip Drew some ketamine in the hopes of destroying his reputation, Drew unfortunately found out and doubled down on his blackmail. Portia has been at the end of her rope for a while, so maybe she finally snapped?

Sidwell

GH Carlo Rota Cameron MathisonABC

Initially, Sidwell was trying to work with Drew to try and take Sonny’s piers away from him so that they could drive the mobster out of business and out of Port Charles. But as time went on, Drew’s usefulness began to wane, and Sidwell declared that the congressman was becoming a liability. Past experience has shown Jenz has no problem using violence to solve his problems (he even recently poisoned Maxie, rending her comatose). Did Drew become enough of a problem that he needed solving… with a bullet?

Sonny

GH SonnyABC

Over the years, Sonny has made it clear that he would move heaven and earth for his family and friends, so it’s only fair that he would want to take Drew down a peg for the way he’s treated people like Michael and Jason. Plus, Drew has been abusing his political power to try and take Sonny’s waterfront piers away from him so he can no longer do business in Port Charles. Since legal channels were proving ineffectual, might the dimpled don have taken the law into his own hands (again)?

Stella

GH Vernee WatsonABC

As a patient advocate at the hospital, Stella routinely went out of her way to help her clients in any way possible. Unfortunately, that also included some fudging of dates on insurance forms to ensure the patients would get coverage. After Martin shared with Drew how he’d helped her, the congressman tipped off the authorities, who ultimately arrested Stella for insurance fraud. While she’s more likely to just give someone a stern talking-to, maybe Stella decided that this time, actions would speak louder than words?

Tracy

GH Cameron Mathison Jane ElliotABC

Tracy and Drew had some pretty ugly clashes as soon as he announced his intention to change his name from Cain to Quartermaine, and their dispute over the family crypt just made things worse. He very nearly persuaded her to let him use the family name, but she just couldn’t bring herself to give him the satisfaction. Could Drew getting her friend, Stella, arrested have been the last straw? Of course, Tracy’s more likely to utterly destroy a person’s life rather than put a bullet in them, but you never know!

Willow

katelyn macmullen-cameron mathisonABC

Willow thought that Drew was her savior, but all he did was blow up her entire life. She was furious enough with him to dump him at the altar when she found out that he’d had an affair with her mother, but would she be angry enough to try to kill him? Given that she recently decided to get back together with him in exchange for his help regaining custody of her children, it seems unlikely, but Willow has proven to be more than a little unstable, so we wouldn’t rule her out.
