Some stories take years to find their moment, and for actor and writer Mae Martin, Netflix’s newest twisty mystery series, Wayward, is one of them. With initial talks dating back to 2023, the limited series has been a passion project for the 38-year-old, who admits the story threading dialogue within the troubled teen industry has been in the works for years. Previously titled Tall Pines, Martin finally stepped into the role of showrunner, star, and executive producer alongside an ensemble that includes Sarah Gadon, Brandon Jay McLaren, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Sydney Topliffe, and Toni Collette.
