There’s a sneaky bit of revenge brewing in Coronation Street next week, and it’s all down to Jodie.

After everything Bernie has been through lately, Jodie decides enough is enough and takes matters into her own hands. But instead of confrontation, she goes for something a bit more subtle… and surprisingly effective.

Jodie reveals to Gemma that she’s been targeting Mal’s business behind the scenes, heading onto his website and leaving a string of bad reviews with the aim to completely wreck his reputation and hit him where it hurts, his livelihood.

And honestly, given Mal’s track record, it’s kinda hard to feel sorry for him.

Mal has caused nothing but trouble since arriving on the street. From his unsettling obsession with Bernie to his increasingly aggressive behaviour, he’s made more than a few enemies. He previously harassed Bernie, tried to pressure her into a situation she didn’t want, and even held her hostage, so it’s safe to say Jodie’s not acting out of nowhere.

On top of that, viewers will remember his explosive clash with Roy, where he stormed in and punched him, wrongly accusing him of having an affair. Then there was the whole mystery attack situation, where Mal ended up seriously injured and initially pointed the finger at the wrong person.

Basically, he’s not exactly been a fan favourite.

It doesn’t take long for Jodie’s plan to have an effect.

Roy later shares some unexpected news: Mal has been in touch to say he’s heading back to Inverness. Just like that, it seems he’s ready to leave Weatherfield behind.

Gemma quickly connects the dots and explains the situation to Bernie, revealing that Jodie’s online sabotage is the real reason behind his sudden departure. According to her, the negative reviews have damaged his business so badly that he’s got no choice but to walk away.

From the outside, it looks like a win. Mal’s leaving, Bernie’s finally free of him, and Jodie’s managed to pull it off without any major fallout.

Bernie is left feeling cautiously optimistic, thinking she can finally move on without Mal hanging over her. However, there’s a sense she might be getting a bit too comfortable too soon. After everything that’s happened, can she really trust that he’s gone for good?

So could this really be the end of the road for Mal? With his business in tatters and his reputation damaged, his move to Inverness looks like a clean break, and potentially his exit from the street altogether.

Whether he stays gone is another matter entirely.

For now though, it seems Jodie’s revenge has done exactly what she wanted. Mal is on his way out, Bernie gets some breathing space, and Weatherfield might finally be rid of one of its most unsettling recent villains.

But if there’s one thing soaps love, it’s unfinished business… so it might be worth keeping an eye on this one.
