“Tyson Fury Was Incentivized” – Twisted Contract Behind Francis Ngannou’s First Boxing Bout Exposed

1 week ago 5

Francis Ngannou had a crossover fight with Tyson Fury and this fight sits at the peak of every other crossover fight that happened in the UFC. Ngannou was all set to cause the biggest upset in the history of sports as he knocked down Fury in the third round. However, the 57-year-old emerged as a winner at the end of the fight that took place in Saudi Arabia in October, via a split decision.

Ngannou’s boxing career has not been going well as he fought with Anthony Joshua on March 8 this year and lost that match as well. However, recently Chael Sonnen made an explosive claim about the Ngannou vs Fury battle and the unique contract.

Chael Sonnen gives new information about Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou

On his YouTube channel, Uncle Chael was speaking about the upcoming fight, Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson when he mentioned the fight rules between ‘The Problem Child’ and ‘Iron’ Mike. He revealed how the fight between Iron Mike and Paul is going to be sanctioned as a ‘fight’ by the Texas Fight Commission. This is where he gave the example of Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury.

Apparently, according to Sonnen, there was a strange contract for that particular bout, “What I am referencing is that Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou. And it was in Tyson’s contract I believe it was 1 million dollars. I saw the exact verbiage I think it was 1 million per round.” He added, “Tyson Fury was incentivized to go more rounds. To the tune of a million dollars for each time the bell rang.”

Sonnen talked about how Fury was made to keep that fight going and that creates a problem. He added that Paul is active and fit, but not as experienced as Tyson. For Sonnen, this is a problem because Paul is fighting someone he admired since childhood. However, even though Sonnen might not like these crossovers, Ngannou did say that one of his dreams was to fight Tyson Fury and it came true. Let’s see who his top two dream opponents are apart from Fury.

Francis Ngannou opened up about his dream fights

Off The Cuff interview, saw Ngannou opening up about his dream opponents. The host of the show talked about the showdown between Anthony Joshua and him. Responding to that, The Predator said, “He’s there probably around number two, three, something like that. When you think about boxing if you follow boxing or just think about heavyweight boxing, [in] the past decade…there [hasn’t] been a moment [when]…Anthony Joshua…hasn’t been in the top three.”

He also described his dream of fighting three athletes. One was Tyson Fury, and the others were Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. He has already achieved his dream of fighting two of the fighters and now only one fight left to check off the list.

Chael Sonnen might not have approved of the fight between Ngannou and Fury or even the Paul vs Tyson fight, but what are your thoughts about it?
