Train to Busan’s director just dropped the first look at his return to zombie horror, and it looks absolutely terrifying. Yeon Sang-ho’s Colony traps survivors inside a sealed building with rapidly evolving infected in a new trailer from Well Go USA Entertainment.

Well Go USA Entertainment released the official trailer for Colony on July 1. Director Yeon Sang-ho returns to the zombie genre a decade after Train to Busan. The film stars Gianna Jun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock, and Go Soo.

Colony follows Professor Se-jeong, played by Gianna Jun, during a biotech conference gone wrong. Consequently, a rapidly mutating virus breaks out inside the facility, forcing authorities to seal the building. Meanwhile, the trailer showcases intense action sequences and horrific zombie transformations within a locked-down high-rise setting.

Additionally, the official synopsis describes the film’s premise in detail. “Professor Se-jeong (Jun) is thrust into a bloody nightmare when a rapidly mutating virus is released during a biotech conference causing authorities to seal the facility.” It continues, “Trapped inside with no escape, Se-jeong along with a small group of survivors must fight to stay alive while the infected undergo horrific transformations.”

Notably, the film marks Yeon Sang-ho’s return to zombie horror after directing Train to Busan in 2016. He also directed the animated prequel Seoul Station and the live-action sequel Peninsula. However, Colony shifts the setting from a speeding train to a sealed high-rise building with evolving infected creatures.

Furthermore, the cast brings together talent from several notable Korean film and television productions. Koo Kyo-hwan previously appeared in Peninsula and Escape From Mogadishu. Similarly, Ji Chang-wook gained recognition through the series Healer, while Shin Hyun-been appeared in Hospital Playlist.

Well Go USA Entertainment handles North American distribution for the film. Colony arrives in theaters on August 28, 2026.
