Spider-Man: Brand New Day was shut down when star Tom Holland suffered a head injury on set, and now the hugely popular lead has spoken out.

The 29-year-old actor has been shooting his fourth movie as Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter ego, but last Friday, things took a scary turn as he was rushed to hospital.

According to various reports, Tom suffered a mild concussion after a stunt went wrong, causing him to hit his head on the floor.

An insider later revealed to The Sun what exactly went wrong: ‘The accident wasn’t as bad as people think.

‘A line snapped on a pull ring, and he got a bump on his bonce. Filming was supposed to start again in London on Thursday, but for now the production team have been told to stand down for two weeks.

‘Tom has been taking it easy as he had a suspected concussion and no one wants him to rush back to set.’

They added that it was just a ‘minor setback’ and shouldn’t at all affect the release date of the film, which is set for July 31, 2026.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman told The Sun a few days ago: ‘We were called at 10:30am on Friday to attend to a patient who had sustained an injury at Leavesden Studios in Watford.

‘An ambulance was sent to the scene, and the patient was transported to hospital for further care.’

No one else was hurt in the incident, and Tom has now assured everyone that he’s on his way to a full recovery.

Having attended a charity dinner in Mayfair the very next night, he posed for photos with his fiancée and Spider-Man co-star Zendaya, 28, before they left early, and his comedian dad, Dominic, was also in attendance.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday night in his first post since the incident, Tom shared a video from the glamorous fundraiser, writing in his caption: ‘What a night! Another huge success. The Brother’s Trust means more to me than I could possibly say and I have to say a huge thank you to my Mum and her wonderful friends for putting on another incredible night. Raising money for fantastic causes and having fun doing it!’

Addressing his premature exit, he added: ‘I’m sorry I had to leave early but I’m feeling better and on the mend.

‘A huge thanks to my Dad for taking over after I left. The show got considerably funnier 😂’

He was soon inundated with get-well messages in the comments, with fans saying how ‘glad’ they are that he’s ‘feeling better’.

Tom’s father previously confirmed that his son would be taking a break from filming ‘for a while’. Production started on Brand New Day in Glasgow last month.

‘It’s day one, my fourth ever day one on Spider-Man. It’s funny, putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow,’ Tom said in a video from Sony at the time.

‘It’s also the first time we ever had fans on set day one, so it’s really exciting to share this with them. We’ve got some familiar faces on set. I’m just going to do my best, hopefully get it right, no pressure.’

And in a chat with YouTube series Flip Your Wig, he promised a focus on ‘old-school filmmaking’ after the pandemic pushed production onto soundstages rather than shooting on location.

He said: ‘It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it, it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.’

The upcoming Spider-Man flick is intended to be the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will also star Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, Jacob Batalon, and more.

While a US release date is slated for next summer, a UK premiere date has not yet been confirmed.
