Just as you think you've seen every dystopian critique of capitalism, a perpetually moving train pierces through your assumption with frigid brutality and incredible complexity. If this sounds familiar, you may have heard of the celebrated 2013 film by Bong Joon Hocalled Snowpiercer, starring Chris Evans as the figurehead of a violent rebellion against tyranny, but a subsequent TV show released in 2020 of the same name delivers another take on the very same premise. All four seasons of Snowpiercer offer the same metaphor for inequality via a class-divided 1,001-carriage train driving relentlessly through a man-made ice age, but inside the carriages, the story is slowed to a haunting pace. On top of that, the series is finally free to watch, so what better time to step aboard?
