As far back as the 1990s, Disney toyed around with the idea of live-action adaptations of their animated classics. These films include Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book starring Jason Scott Lee, and 101 Dalmatians and its sequel featuring Glenn Close as Cruella De Vil, but none of these films truly broke new ground for Disney. This changed in 2010 with the release of Tim Burton's remake/sequel to Alice in Wonderland, which broke $1 billion at the box office.
