One of the biggest reasons why millennials don't seem to be revolting against the HBO Harry Potter show is because they cannot possibly be disappointed more cruelly than they were by the Fantastic Beasts films. No matter how uninspired the HBO series might be, it can never be as baffling as the ill-fated Harry Potter prequel series, which was conceptualized by series architect J.K. Rowling and put out of its misery midway through its run. The series was supposed to last five installments, but the critical and commercial underperformance of the third film, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, was all the encouragement Warner Bros. needed to pull the plug. However, the writing had been on the wall since 2018, when the prequel series' second installment debuted with unexpectedly disappointing results.
