It isn’t far-fetched to refer to the isekai genre as “washed out,” as it’s one of the most overplayed fantasy tropes in anime that has lost its edge and appeal in recent years. Many isekai shows distill the genre’s formula in such disapproving ways that there’s been a shortage of spectacular isekai that progressively catch the interest of anime fans.
