Reviews are rolling in for Luca Guadagnino's starry new crime thriller, After the Hunt, out of the Venice Film Festival, and they are none too kind to what the Oscar-nominated director has to offer. At the time of writing, the film stands at an underwhelming 43% on Rotten Tomatoes, despite having a killer trio of Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, and Andrew Garfield getting top billing. Boasting #MeToo themes and a purposeful nod to the work of Woody Allen in the credits, it's the Italian director's big follow-up feature coming off a strong 2024 where he released the widely beloved Challengers and the acclaimed Daniel Craig-led feature Queer. While it has some ardent supporters among the first wave of reviews, it's not the start expected from a big name who has otherwise been on a hot streak.
