Both were accused of killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher, while studying in Perugia, Italy. While both were on trial, Knox had to face the deep end of it. The series showcases how prosecutors portrayed her during her trial, while the media depicted her as a villain.

The word “Luciferina” first surfaced when a lawyer of the civil suit used it to describe Knox in court. Prosecutors and the media quickly picked it up and started using it regularly while referring to Knox. The word loosely translates to “she-devil” or “female Lucifer”.

This term stood in contrast to her image as “angel face,” a phrase that was also used by the media. Later, a lawyer was also alleged to have described Knox as “dirty inside and out” and a “she-devil.” None of these terms had anything to do with the murder. They were merely an attempt to shape her image in the public eye.

The court initially sentenced Knox to 26 years of imprisonment and Sollecito to 25 years. However, experts argued that the evidence was contaminated. They pointed out that the alleged murder weapon did not contain Kercher’s or Knox’s DNA. This led to the court finding them not guilty.

Later, the court found Rudy Guede, a drug dealer, guilty of murdering Kercher after discovering his DNA at the crime scene.
