Brace for fireworks. Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) is about to leave Coronation Street for good when a shocking truth about her sister Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) sends the bunny-boiling baddie off the deep end… on the same night that she very well could be murdered.

Jodie is a woman with a plan – get revenge on her sister by stealing her family.

The devious soapland vixen has become a cuckoo in her sister’s nest, with the secret goal of seducing her husband David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and making her appear like a bad mum in the eyes of her daughter Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner).

What has Shona done to deserve this? The vendetta goes back to the Ramsey girls’ unhappy childhood, when teen mum Shona ran away from home, leaving Jodie to deal with her abusive dad and enabling mother.

So far, Jodie has managed to hide her sinister intentions from everybody on the Cobbles… until now.

Everything changed this week thanks to the return of Olivia, one of the children that Jodie used to be a Nanny for. Talk about Scary Poppins!

In tonight’s episode, Olivia acts all sweetness and light in front of Shona, but there’s something about her which puts Jodie on edge… and we soon realise what that is when the she catches the light-fingered teen rummaging through her belongings looking for a hard drive!

We already know that Jodie’s like a magpie when it comes to shiny things, and keeps a mystery box filled with trinkets stolen from her neighbours. So it’s not a surprise that she’d added this man’s hard drive to the collection. What’s on it?

Whatever it is, it’s something serious. Because as soon as Jodie gives Olivia her marching orders, the school girl thief reports back to two thugs outside in a fancy car. They work for Olivia’s dad, and they’re prepared to do whatever is necessary to Jodie to get that hard drive back.

Gulp.

It seems Jodie’s former employer is not someone you want to mess with. Not unlike Emmerdale supervillain Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough). Anyone who caught the Corriedale spinoff may remember how Jodie escaped from the back of his van. Later, Graham made a call to a mysterious contact, claiming that he was cancelling the contract.

We can assume that ‘the contract’ was on Jodie’s life and Graham was hired as either a hitman or a kidnapper. Was Olivia’s dad his employer?

Maybe so. After all, death is coming to the Cobbles this week on Carla Connor’s (Alison King) and Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) wedding day, where one unlucky cobbles character will be murdered – and Jodie is one of five Corrie potential victims.

Next week’s episodes of Coronation Streel will be a treat, billed by bossesas ‘an innovative and drama packed week of episodes’ which takes the viewer back to the day of Carla and Lisa’s wedding. Each trip to the follows what could be potentially the last day in the life for one of the potential murder victims – and Jodie’s is set to be a whopper.

Spooked by Olivia’s visit, Jodie comes clean with Shona who urges her sister to flee Weatherfield for her own safety.

But as Jodie prepares to leave Coronation Street for good, she hears Shona screaming.

She runs outside to find her sister being accosted by two men. Realising that they are here for her, Jodie does the right thing and decides to give up the hard drive to save her sister.

Seeing how upset she is, Shona takes pity on her twisted sister and asks her to stay. All’s rosy, right?

Then Jodie makes a discovery that changes everything.

All this time, Jodie has insisted that she reached out to Shona shortly after she abandoned their family home, begging her sister to come back. Shona had always claimed she never received a letter, leading her to believe she had no reason to reach out or return.

Jodie discovers evidence that Shona lied. She received the letter, and ignored it.

Actress Olivia Frances-Brown who portrays Jodie , teased her character’s reaction to this bombshell revelation in a recent chat with Metro.’Her relationship with Shona is so complex.’ Olivia explains. ‘She absolutely loves her. She adores her sister. She idolises her. It’s just that resentment and that bitterness. The thing that pushed her over the edge is that Shona actually never tried to come back for her and find her and help her the way she helped herself. It really pushed her over the edge to realise that was the case and after that she just didn’t care anymore what she did.’

Now the gloves are well and truly off, and David becomes collateral damage as Jodie makes a bold move to destroy her sister’s marriage. Will it succeed?

Finding herself out on the street Jodie scuttles off into the night, unaware she’s being watched. In the precinct, Jodie parks herself on the swings, frustrated with herself for messing everything up.

Then, just when her night can’t get any worse, someone approaches Jodie from behind. She’s surprised… maybe for the the last time. Is this the end of the road for Coronation Street’s two-faced cuckoo in the nest?
