Freddy Krueger likely brings up some feelings of terror for some of our readers. After all, Robert Englund’s perfect performance across numerous films in the long-running horror franchise as the man with knife gloves who hunts and haunts teens in their sleep is enough to make anyone’s skin crawl. What started as a standalone film helmed by the one and only Wes Craven in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street quickly grew into a worldwide phenomenon of horror, leading to a total of seven original series films, a crossover with Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees in Freddy vs. Jason, and the ill-received 2010 remake. Essentially, Freddy Krueger and his striped sweater and fedora combo are at the top of the horror pyramid.
